Pan 360 System

TX push the boundaries of 360 video recording with the roll out of their latest high definition panoramic video recording system. The compact Pan 360 system, utilises a set of 1080 high definition cameras in an array of just 40 cm diameter and was designed and built in their system workshops in Shepperton Film Studios.

The resultant recording, once processed, produces a custom movie with a horizontal resolution of more than 18,000 pixels with an aspect ratio of up to 10:1. The resultant full motion 360 movie makes impressive viewing when displayed on a high definition panoramic projection system such as the Igloo Vision’s totally immersive 360-degree digital surround screen projection theatre.

Transmission (TX) Ltd is proud to have been involved with both “In the Night Garden” and “Land Girls”, providing the Equipment, Technical Support. Crew and Facilities for both HD productions. In addition, TX applied their knowledge and expertise, gained from 20 years broadcast experience to add quality and aid creativity on both productions.

In the Night Garden won Best Pre-School Programme for Ragdoll Productions, Produced / Directed by Anne Wood / Andy Davenport. In the Night Garden was judged to represent “an outstanding production effort by a British company”. For Ragdoll and TX, In the Night Garden was a highly complex project, which was brought together by Lee Philips, Ragdolls Technical Guru. Challenges included, live chroma-keying in an outside environment, 5 km of fibre optic cable, Fly By Wire camera systems, RF links for live playback to puppeteers and all to be recorded in full HD.

Search and Rescue Ireland

“Production Company – RTÉ
Programme – Search and Rescue Ireland
Facilities – Transmission (TX) Ltd”

Due to the success of “Search and Rescue Ireland”, RTÉ has commissioned Transmission TX to extend their Specialist Camera Systems from Waterford to Shannon Airbase.

TX are supplying two bespoke Extreme Camera Rigs which are designed in and around the delicate and complex workings of the million dollar AS-332L Eurocopter, of which the Irish Coast Guard own six. In addition, TX designed and built two Crew Camera Rigs, that record video and sound, and are worn by the Coast Guard Crews around their existing kit. The cameras are fixed to theirs helmets thus giving us a eye level view of what they are doing.

All equipment has to meet strict aviation code as well as be waterproof, lightweight and easily to operate under the tough working conditions the Coast Guard face when on a rescue mission. This is all made possible thanks to the in-house designed and built recording units.

RTÉ is a Public Service Broadcaster and a non-profit making organisation owned by the Irish people. RTÉ is Ireland’s cross-media leader, providing comprehensive and cost-effective free-to-air television, radio and online services. RTÉ has been producing and curating broadcast materials for eighty years.

Filming is expected to continue until the end of March with a summer transmission date still to be confirmed.
